PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF 1ALPHA,25-DIHYDROXYLATED VITAMIN D2 AND RELATED COMPOUNDS

Previously unknown derivatives of vitamin D2 and, more especially, 1α,25-dihydroxylated compounds of the vitamin D series. A process is also provided for preparing these derivatives, as are certain intermediates for this. The invention provides 1α,25- dihydroxyvitamin D2 derivatives, and acylates thereof, which can be used as replacement for vitamin D3 or D2, or for various of the known vitamin metabolites of the vitamins, for their various purposes for remedying pathological states in connection with calcium metabolism and bone diseases which are associated therewith.
