PURPOSE:To obtain a decorative plate stressing wood grains and having excellent surface properties by providing ruggedness on the surface of a material having spring wood and summer wood, and coating a sealer paint on the surface then removing the projecting part and coating a reactive wood grain stressing agent. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a decorative plate 1 stuck with coniferous veneer having hard and soft spring wood and summer wood is brushed with a long- bristled brush in a way as to recess 2a the spring wood part 1a. A sealer 3 is coated on the rugged surface and is dried. The surface is thereafter polished with a sander to remove the sealer sticking on the summer wood part 1b. A wood grain stressing agent or coloring material 4 is coated on the woodlike surface of the summer wood part 1b exposed by sanding and thereafter a pearl pigment and coloring material 6 are coated thereon. The good grains are thus stressed and the decorative plate stressing the wood grains having gloss and depth is obtd.
