PURPOSE:To obtain a deoxidizing agent to be suitably used for preservation of medicines contained in a small bottle by impregnating a granular material with a metallic halide, adhering iron powder on the surface of the granular material, and tableting the product. CONSTITUTION:1-60pts.wt. metallic halide (e.g. NaCl) is dissolved in 100pts.wt. solvent, and 20-100pts.wt. said solution is impregnated into 100pts.wt. granular material such as zeolite. Iron powder such as electrolytic iron powder having <=50 mesh particle size is adhered to the granule and the product is formed to tablets. Suitable amt. of the iron powder to be used is usually 30-500, pref. 50-200pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. granular material contg. impregnated metallic halide. The tableted deoxidizing agent obtd. in this way has excellent oxygen absorbing cpacity, and is used suitably for preservation of medicines, etc. contained in a small bottle.
