PURPOSE:To eliminate various errors by forming a thin and long light image for scanning which has a length longer than the groove width of a slit on the slit through an optical system in the direction of right angles to a scanning direction. CONSTITUTION:An image formed on a photosensitive surface is rectangular having a lengthwise direction at right angles to scanning lines. For the purpose, the shapes of a window 13 and a lens 14 are set properly to form said image. Further, the cylindrical lens 14 only forms the thin and long image and includes a distorted image optical system in an elliptic shape, etc. A polygon mirror, a galvanomirror, etc. are used for a scanner 7. Light from a laser 11 is passed through a modulator 3, shaped rectangularly by the window 13, and made rectangular through the cylindrical lens 14 to form the rectangular image on the slit 16 through an image forming lens 6. |
