PURPOSE:To prepare rapidly a uniform aqueous solution of highly polymerized polyethylene oxide without forming an undissolved lump of the polymer, by dissolving it in water in the presence of a compound selected from polysiloxanes and polyalkylene glycols. CONSTITUTION:A highly polymerized polyethylene oxide is dissolved in water in the presence of a compound selected from polysiloxanes and polyalkylene glycols. Or, the compound selected from polysiloxanes and polyalkylene glycols is added to the highly polymerized polymer to give an easily water-soluble composition. Polyalkylene glycols used as a raw material for polymers such as polyurethane, alkyd resin, etc. are preferable as the polyalkylene glycols. The amount of the additive blended is 0.0001-50pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. highly polymerized polymer.
