PURPOSE:To obtain titled component of high polymerization activity capable of reducing, e.g., chlorine content, by mutually bringing the following five compounds into contact in a specified way, namely, dialkoxy magnesium, carboxylic ester, liquid halogenated hydrocarbon titanium halide, and organoaluminum compound. CONSTITUTION:(A) A dialkoxymagnesium of formula Mg (OR)2 (R is alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl) (e.g., diethoxymagnesium) is suspended, in the presence of (B) a carboxylic ester (pref. ethyl benzoate), in (C) a liquid halogenated hydrocarbon followed by bringing into contact with (D) a titanium halide of formula TiX4 (X is halogen) (pref., TiCl4) to form a composition, which is then brought into contact with (E) an organoaluminum compound followed by bringing into contact with the component (D) again, thus obtaining the objective catalytic component. EFFECT:Capable of manufacturing polymers of large granular size with narrow size distribution. Showing limited performance drop with time.
