The apparatus for forming a cheese mass comprises a frame (1) and a basin (2), which is arranged in a lower portion thereof and which is provided with a movable perforated bottom (3) for the removal of a cheese layer and the drainage of a whey. One of the face walls of the basin (2) is fabricated as a guillotine type blade (4) in order to cut the formed cheese layer into blocks of specified sizes. The apparatus comprises also at least one pressing mechanism, which is mounted in the upper portion of the frame (1) above the basin (2), and which is provided with a forming plate (8) and with at least one power pneumatic cylinder (5). The actuating element (6) of the cylinder is connected with the forming plate (8) through a traverse (7). On the traverse, a driving element (11) of a kinematic pair is arranged whereas its driven element (12) is connected to said plate (8).
