PURPOSE:To provide a low NOX burner having a wide combustible range, by a method wherein an amount of premixture supplied from the first stage is increased over an amount of premixture fed from the second stage, and premixture fed from the second stage is continuously formed over the entire periphery of a burner. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of scoops 206 are located in a continous state or a state similar to a continuous state on the periphery of a burner 203 located at a distance from a scoop 202. The air for second stage combustion is supplied from the scoops 206 to the burner 203. The fuel supplied through a pipe 207 and a mainfold 208 with the aid of the scoop 206 is mixed with the air for combustion to form a second stage premixture. An amount of permixture supplied at the first stage is increased over an amount of premixture fed at the second stage, and this enables provision of a low NOX burner having a wide combustion range.
