<p>A side-lift type vehicle jack has a gear (28) on the screw (20) and a pinion (31) meshed with the gear, for rotating the screw. The pinion is mounted on a pin (30) projecting from the side of the body (11) opposite to the load-engaging member. A flat plate (33) is secured to the pinion and is formed with spaced lugs (44, 45). The plate lies parallel to the adjacent body face and the lugs project towards the body. An L-shaped handle (41) is journalled in the lugs and carries a U-shaped member (48) between the lugs. This member axially locates the handle relative to the journals and limits its rotational movement. The handle can be turned so that the lug (42) extends outwards from the jack body. <IMAGE></p> |
