PURPOSE:To provide a titled pinch roll which is low in initial cost and has an excellent function by supporting the upper pinch roll in a way as to permit free change of its position and holding the lower pinch roll in a fixed position so as to grasp only the web of a beam blank in the stage of casting the beam blank in particular. CONSTITUTION:This pinch roll is so constituted as to grasp the web 90c of a beam blank 9 with upper and lower pinch rolls 80c, 80d. Roll chocks 13a, 13b are suspended freely vertically movably by means of cylinders 14a, 14b to vertical frames 12a, 12b. thereby forming a roll gap adjusting mechanism. The circumferential surfaces of the pinch rolls 80c, 80d that contact with the web 90c of the blank 9 are made to have the max. width permitted within the casting conditions to increase pulling force. It is also possible to cast a broad slab. The grasping of a square billet is accomplished within the width of the above- mentioned circumferential surfaces of the rolls. |
