PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of distortion and aberration by providing the 1st divergent, the 2nd convergent, and the 3rd convergent lens groups as movable lens groups for zooming, and inhibiting the 1st divergent lens group from moving on a wide-angle side. CONSTITUTION:This zoom lens system consists of a lens group L1 which is fixed at zooming, the 1st moving divergent lens group L2, the 2nd moving convergent lens group L3, the 3rd moving convergent lens group L4, and an aperture F image forming lens group L5 successively from an object side. For zooming to the wide-angle side, the interval between the 2nd moving convergent lens group L3 and the 3rd moving convergent lens group L4 is increased and the 1st moving lens group L2 is inhibited from moving. Consequently, almost no shift in incident pupil position on the wide-angle side is made and the distortion and aberration is compensated.
