A mounting method comprises (I) the step of placing a first liquid (3) in a first area (11) provided on one major surface of a substrate (1), (II) the step of moving columnar members (2) as the anisotropically-shaped members so disposed on one major surface of a transfer substrate (21) as to be oriented in a predetermined direction into the area of the first liquid (3) by bringing the columnar members into contact with the first liquid (3) placed in the first area (11), and (III) the step of removing the first liquid (3) from the substrate (1).
