PURPOSE:To provide a humidifier with a scale-free drain system, by arranging it such that a drain hole is formed through the bottom of steam cylinder containing an evaporating water therein, while an inverse U-shaped drain pipe is connected with the top end of drain hole and a pump is provided at an intermediate position of the drain pipe. CONSTITUTION:Upon a water supplying solenoid 27 being opened for supplying an evaporating water into a steam cylinder 21, a water level in a cylinder rises simultaneously with the rise of water level 28b in a drain pipe 28. When the water level rises sufficiently to get into contact with plate electrodes 22-24, a power source 34 is actuated to evaporate the water into steam which is then led from a steam exhaust port to a desired place. Upon the water level exceeding the bent portion 28a of drain pipe 28, the water is drained out through the drain pipe 28 and the steam cylinder can therefore restrict its water level at a specific level. A large clearance formed between the top end of blade 29b and the inner wall of pump cover inside a drain pump serves to prevent the clogging caused by scale and the like.
