PURPOSE:To measure with good reproducibility the high-concn. salinity in crude oil measurement of which is impossible so far by regulating the water content in a reference sample which is used for measuring salinity in crude oil within a specified range wider than the ASTM method. CONSTITUTION:Neutral oil (lubricating oil is used), xylene, a mixed alcohol soln. (a mixed liquid having 610:360:40 volume ratio of butanol:methanol:distilled water), and an aq. soln. of salts (contg. respective specified amt. and concn. of CaCl2, MgCl2, and NaCl) are mixed to prepare a reference sample whose water content is regulated to 2.0-3.0vol%. A calibration line shown in the figure is formed by measuring the electroconductivity of the referece sample. A test sample is prepared by using crude oil to be measured instead of the neutral oil and adding the mixed alcohol having same volume as the total volume of the aq. soln. not contg. the above-mentioned three kinds of salts and the mixed alcohol instead of the two components. The electroconductivity of the test sample is obtained. By comparing the obtained electroconductivity with said calibration line, the high-concn. salinity in the crude oil can be measured simply in the range of 500-5,000mg/l. |
