PURPOSE:To improve starting characteristics in a compressor used for an air conditioner or the like by forming a slit in a piston ring interposed between a piston and a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A piston 21 is provided on the outer periphery with a plurality of linear notch portions 22 which do not contact the inner wall of a cylinder. Also, the piston ring 21 is provided with a slit 23 which is cut completely out of the piston ring to facilitate the inserting operation in the piston ring and improve the contacting property of the piston ring with the inner wall of the cylinder. Since the outer periphery of the piston ring 21 does not contact the inner wall of the cylinder on the notch portions 22, the sealing property of the piston ring 21 is reduced and a portion of refrigerant in the cylinder leaks through the notches 22 to save the work amount of driving the piston by the leakage amount so that slide resistance of the piston ring 21 can be also reduced to improve synthetic efficiency. |
