PURPOSE:To obtain a focus adjusting device which is stable regardless of the distance to an object, its illuminance, etc., by switching outputs for driving a photographic lens according to whether the output signal of a photodetecting element is larger than a specific value or not. CONSTITUTION:An image of an object 42 is picked up by a video camera circuit 19 and outputted as a video signal to a terminal 43. Then whether a zoom lens 13 is in an in-focus state or not is detected by a focus adjustment part 28 on the basis of the output of the photodetecting element 27 which is divided into two, and consequently a signal VFA for stopping or moving the photographic lens is outputted. A high frequency component comparison part 32 outputs a signal VFY which indicates the stop or driving direction of the zoom lens 13 by the maximum value of the high frequency component of the video signal. Those two control signals are switched by a selecting circuit 38 on the basis of the output of a voltage amplifier 30-2 and supplied to a focus adjusting mechanism 39. |
