<p>PURPOSE:To prevent newly formation of a large amount of sulfate by constituting a honeycomb-shaped separating wall from a filter wall and allowing catalytic substance to be carried only onto the inner wall of a cell for closing the downstream edge part of exhaust flow. CONSTITUTION:The exhaust containing minute particles flows into the first cell 12a and then introdced into the second cell 12b, passing through a separating wall 16 between the first and the second cells 12a and 12b, and purified and discharged into the air. At this time, the exhaust which passes through the separating wall 16 passes through a catalytic layer 15, active alumina layer 14, and the separating wall 16 in the order, and the minute particles contained inside are caught in a region having the catalytic layer 15 at the center. Uncombusted compositions of HC, CO, and C are oxidized by catalysts and the exhaust heat and combusted and removed. The exhaust gas which is purified during passing through the separating wall is not exposed to the catalytic layer over necessity, since a catalytic layer is not provided on the second-cell 12b side of the separating wall 16.</p> |
