PURPOSE:To secure the safety as well as provide sure operation by connecting No.2 oil pressure chamber to No.1 relief port when the solenoid happens to be out of function. CONSTITUTION:A control circuit 18 stops the power supply to a solenoid 811 to allow a spring 813 to move a drive rod 812 leftward on the attached illustration wherein the tip thrusts a valve element 812c to cause opening of the valve, and now No.1 oil pressure chamber 824 opens to a ring-shaped relief passage through a gap between said drive rod 812 and the valve body 821h. Accordingly the pressure in No.1 oil pressure chamber 824 will sink. This pressure drop enlarges the pressure difference between this and another oil pressure chamber 825 to permits a spool 822 to displace against a spring 823 rightward in the attached illustration, and consequently a pressure chamber 131 is in communication with No.2 relief port 821b to sink the pressure in the pressure chamber 131. Thus fuel injection from the injection nozzle 2 is stopped.
