PURPOSE:To obtain the member of a shadow mask and such that can achieve a fine color picture tube easy to observe with exceedingly small color shift by forming the captioned picture tube member with a substrate whose primary components are Fe and Ni and whose surface is coated with a black coat. CONSTITUTION:At least either one of a shadow mask 6, a frame 7, and an inner shield 9 is formed with the material in which a substrate surface whose primary components are Fi and Ni is coated with a black coat. For example, the black coat uses a spinel type oxide or the like that is formed integratedly on the surface of a substrate and indicated by NixFe3-xO4 (the x value is 0<x<3). As a result, for exaple, when a shadow mask 6 is provided with the property of small coefficient of thermal expansion owing to the substrate whose primary components are Fe and Ni and the excellent heat dissipation of the black coat applied to the substrate surface and then is built in a color picture tube, the doming caused by the temperature rise when the tube is used is improved and color shift and such following the relative positional shift between the fine opening section of the shadow mask and the phosphor layer of a phosphor screen can be suppressed.
