The adapter (1) has a changeover switch (5) for adjusting the characteristics e.g. output voltage, current and frequency, of an electric signal, and a cord (2) for transmitting the signal to a connector (3) charged to provide the signal to an electrical signal producing apparatus e.g. walkman. A translucent ring (6) is placed on the connector and emits a luminous signal whose visible characteristics depend on the adjustable characteristics of the electric signal. A regulating unit has a short circuit determination unit on the level of the output voltage. An independent claim is also included for a system composed of an electrical signal producing apparatus.
