PURPOSE:To make it possible to ensure satisfactory acceleration even if an engine is turned into its full road operation rapidly from its no load operation, by suitably setting the air compression ratio between the suction side and discharge side of the blower of an engine direct-coupled supercharger. CONSTITUTION:A gas turbine rotates a blower 4 directly coupled thereto to suck air and then to discharge it into an intake-air duct 5. An air-cooler 6 disposed in the intermediate section of the intake air duct 5 cools air. The blower 9 of an engine direct-coupled supercharger which is driven by a gear unit 8 on the crankshaft 7 of an engine 1 is connected on its suction side to the intake-air duct 5 and on its discharge side to the intake-air pipe 10 of the engine 1 through the air-cooler 6. By suitably setting the ratio of the discharge side air pressure and suction side air pressure of the blower 9, an excess air ratio, lambda=1-1.2, of the Diesel-engine upon rated-power operation is ensured, this ratio corresponding to the amount of air which is 40-50% of air necessary for rated-power operation. |
