The ski has a track sole, metal side edges and a core mounted between an upper and a lower band (4,5). These upper and lower bands are formed from longitudinal strips of different materials, e.g. aluminium and plastics and are symmetrical in structure relative to the longitudinal axis of the ski. The cross-section lines of the upper band and lower band seen in plan view have the same configuration. Those parts made of the first or second material in the case of one of the bands are made of the other material in the case of the other band.
