An arrangement of this type comprises a measuring device which is firmly connected to the one-man power saw (EMS) and, depending on the type of construction, permits stepless or stepped measurements of the material to be cut on both the right-hand side (8.1) and the left-hand side (8.2) of the chain saw (8.3). The proposed integrated measuring device can be designed in such a way that it can alternatively be pushed together telescopically (8.4), rolled up (8.5), folded (8.6) or bent (8.7). If it is not used it rests in a holder or in a housing (not shown) and consequently does not get in the way. The integrated type of construction enables the previous two separate operations of measuring and cutting off to be combined in one working cycle. The conversion of all material to be cut, in particular the so-called sawn timber, which is to be cut to a certain length with the one-man power saw, can thus be carried out in a substantially shorter time and also in a handier manner. It is not necessary to carry and use a special cutting-to-length instrument, because the measuring instrument is also always available when using a one-man power saw with installed, integrated measuring device. <IMAGE>
