In a gas pressure regulator, in particular for the medium- and low-pressure range of the public gas supply, an enlarged safety diaphragm (4) is added to the working diaphragm (3) in such a way that they both act on the same valve and, if the working diaphragm (3) is damaged, said valve (8) is regulated by the safety diaphragm (4), with the result that, because of the enlarged surface area of the safety diaphragm (4), a new, lower pressure level is established. For test purposes, a closeable test opening (14) which opens into the space (15) between working and safety diaphragms (3, 4) may be provided. <IMAGE>
