LARGE CAPACITY DISK DEVICE

PURPOSE:To enlarge the capacity at low cost and with a small space and to retrieve a specified disk at high speed by joining a fixed shaft and an arm that holds a detector by a spiral guide. CONSTITUTION:Retrieval of an information track that performs recording and reproducing of information signals in rotating disks 1a-d is made by moving linearly a detector 5 in an arm 6. Retrieval of specified disks 1a-d in disk stacks 4a-d is made by moving the detector 5 to specified disks 1a-d by moving the arm 6 that holds the detector 5 by a positioner 7 spirally around a fixed shaft 8 and along a guide 9 fitted to the fixed shaft 8. The locus of operation 10 of the detector 5 to disks 1a-d is similar to that of the guide 9 provided on the fixed shaft developed on a plane. Thus, a detected part can be moved to detected position of information in a short time and at low cost.
