In order to make the actuation of the means of control for stopping and re-starting the drive of a drive control device, especially for a motor vehicle engine, dependent on objectively detected measuring signals, a pulse generator connected to a computer processing a detected measuring signal is assigned to the respective means of measurement. A signal transmitter, which directly or indirectly causes the drive to be switched off and indicates re-starting of the drive under optimum conditions is connected to the output side of the computer.
