A pneumatic conveyor line (2) connecting a transmitting station (1) to a receiving station (3) for the transfer of filter rods (6) for smoking articles has assigned to it a retaining means (37) which can be moved into the conveyor line in the event of a fault at the receiving station and which acts on the lengthwise sides of the filter rods, clamping them, and thus blocks all the subsequent filter rods in the conveyor line. <IMAGE>
