Method for the production of castings from aluminium alloy and of pistons composed of an aluminium alloy

A casting method for the production of castings from aluminium alloy, in which porous metallic material is fixed in a casting mould and a melt consisting of aluminium alloy is introduced into the casting mould in order to surround the porous material. The method is a high-pressure composite die-casting method and operates at a pressure of at least 392 bar in order thereby to obtain an aluminium-alloy cast blank with an embedded porous material. The cast blank is heated to a temperature of 450 to 550 DEG C and held at this temperature from 1 to 10 hours. This gives rise to an intermetallic composite layer consisting of aluminium and the metal of the porous material at the interface between the porous material and the aluminium alloy.
