PURPOSE:To prevent toner from scattering by arranging a magnet near the toner discharge port of a unit which is opened and closed vertically, allowing the magnet to contact or leave the discharge port according to whether the unit is opened or closed, and opening and closing the discharge port by lines of magnetic force. CONSTITUTION:The magnet 21 fitted to a support plate 17 turnable around a pin 19 is arranged near the toner discharge port 15 of the unit 20 which is opened and closed vertically. The discharge port 15 is inserted into a toner recovery container 32 during copying operation, and the support plate 17 is pressed against an operating pin 23 to retract the magnet 21, collecting toner. When the unit 20 is opened in case of a paper jam, etc., the support plate 17 and pin 23 are disengaged from each other and the magnet 21 abuts on the discharge port 15 by the operation of a compression spring 22 to close the opening by lines of magnetic force. Consequently, the toner is prevented from flowing out when the unit 20 is opened, and the toner is prevented from scattering. |
