Stimulating current device for treating atonically paralysed, i.e. enervated musculature, having outputs which are preferably multichannel and perfectly isolated from one another electrically, each of these outputs generating bidirectional stimulating-current curves suitable for stimulating atonic paralyses and temporally coordinated correspondingly with one another. The stimulating-current curves are fed to the patient via electrodes. They are produced by firstly producing a medium-frequency oscillation (square pulse sequence), which is not suitable for treating atonic paralyses and is connected, possibly after amplification, to the primary side of only one transformer, which contains a number of secondary sides which corresponds to the number of the channels, controlled rectifier circuits or polarity-reversal circuits being connected downstream of said secondary sides in each case. The polarity reversal circuits, which are preferably formed from thyristor bridges, are fed signal pulse shapes corresponding to the effective stimulating-current curve shapes to be built up on the secondary sides. Furthermore, it is possible to suppress the pain due to the current by directly feeding the medium-frequency signal generated.
