<p>Boxes and cartons are arranged in stacks placed on pallets for ease of handling. The stack (13) is built up from layers, with each layer (4) being delivered to the stacking station by a roller conveyor (1). The stacking station has two forks (17,18) which can be retracted laterally in opposition. The forks support the stack (13), whilst a new layer (4) is brought into position by the conveyor (1) and then raised by a hoist (28). The hoist has a row of rollers (9) interspaced with blades (29) which can be raised or lowered above or below the level of the rollers.</p> |
