PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound in high selectivity in high yield, by reacting an unsaturated aldehyde with O2 by the use of a catayst prepared by blending a heteropolyacid composition containing P, Mo, and As with copper molybdate and/or silver molybdate. CONSTITUTION:In preparing an unsaturated acid such as acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, etc. by reacting an unsaturated aldehyde such as acrolein, methacrolein, etc. with molecular oxygen in the presence of a catalyst at high temperature in a gaseous phase, a catalyst obtained by blending (A) a heteropolyacid composition shown by the formula (a=12, b=0.5-5, and c=0-5) containing P, Mo, and As with (B) copper molybdate (e.g., CuMoO4, etc.) and/or silver molybdate (e.g., Ag2MoO4, etc.) is used as the catalyst. EFFECT:The reaction is carried out at relatively low temperature in a short contact time, and catalytic activity can maintained for a long period. |
