PURPOSE:To obtain a gas discharge tube which has a trigger electrode and can be cooled with a cooling liquid by using a conductive liquid as the cooling liquid and installing an electrode which touches the cooling liquid and is used in applying trigger voltage to the cooling liquid during the starting of electric discharge. CONSTITUTION:A trigger electrode 9 is installed in a proper area in the path of a cooling liquid 2 consisting of a conductor such as water. A cooling liquid source reservoir 10 is earthed. A liquid-leading-in pipe 11 and a liquid-leading- out pipe 12, which are installed in the reservoir 10, are connected to the cooling liquid inlet 5 and the liquid outlet 6 of a discharge tube respectively. The pipes 11 and 12 are both made of an electrically nonconductive rubber, plastic or the like. They have spiral sections respectively and are provided with magnetic cores 13 and 14 in their centers. A pump or something similar is used to lead in and lead out the liquid. The trigger electrode 9 is installed in a proper area of the spiral section located toward the discharge tube. Owing to the above constitution, the spiral section has an electrical inductance increasing the alternating impedance of this section, thereby preventing any alternating connection between the spiral section and the earthing. |
