<p>An insulated conductor cable comprising a conductor core, an inner insulating layer of cross-linked, low-density ethylene-containing polymer surrounding the core and an outer insulating layer of a siloxane cross-linked high-density ethylene-containing polymer surrounding the inner layer. Procedure for producing the cable includes the steps of extruding onto the core an inner layer of the low-density polymer containing a cross-linking agent, extruding thereover an outer layer of the high-density polymer having a hydrolysable organosilane grafted onto the polymer, preferably with a cross-linking catalyst incorporated in the outer layer, and curing the coatings with heat in the presence of moisture.</p> |
