PURPOSE:To enable to enlarge the effective light-receiving area without lowering the output characteristic by a method wherein upper electrodes, which are positioned on the incident side of light, are made to pierce through a semiconductor layer and are connected with a metal substrate. CONSTITUTION:A metal electrode 7, which forms the lower electrode of a solar cell, is formed on a metal substrate 1 through an insulating film 6. Furthermore, an amorphous Si layer 2, which forms the solar cell, is continuously formed thereon. Moreover, a transparent conductive film 3 is formed on the film 2. Each of thin films 6, 7, 2 and 3 is respectively performed a patterning by isolating region within a range that the thin films 6, 7, 2 and 3 respectively exert no bad influence upon the formation of the solar cell and upper electrodes 8 consisting of a metal are formed by filling the separating zones. In this constitution, as the electrodes 8 have been connected to the substrate 1, electricity generated by the incident light in the interior of the layer 2 can be led out from the electrode 7 and the substrate 1. Accordingly, even though the area of the electrodes 8 is made smaller and the effective light-receiving area is made larger, the power loss due to the resistance components of the electrodes 8 can be lessened. |
