PURPOSE:To enable to prevent a paper from being contaminated, by providing a detecting means for the width of a recording paper, a memory means for at least one-line amount of data, a counting means for the quantity of data transferred and stored, and a means for inhibiting the transfer of recording data to the memory means. CONSTITUTION:First, a set signal FS is outputted from a controlling circuit 1, and is impressed on an AND8 through a flip-flop 7. Next, the circuit 1 discriminates the width of the paper on the basis of detection signals PW0-PW3 from detecting means 2, and sets on a counter 6 the maximum capacity of recording data (a) which can be recorded in the width direction of the paper. Then, a clock signal CLK and a data signal D are outputted, and are inputted into a shift register 3 through the AND8, while the counter 6 counts downs the quantity of a data-in signal D1 by counting the clock signal CLK, and when the counted value reaches 0, the flip-flop 7 is reset to inhibit writing into the shift register 3. Accordingly, recording on a platen is inhibited, and the recording paper can be prevented from being contaminated. |
