PURPOSE:To make it possible to prolong the exchange cycle of a humidifying liquid, in an ink jet recording apparatus, by separately providing a hermetically closing lid for hermetically closing the opening part of a humidifying lid during recording to prevent the discharge of steam. CONSTITUTION:A hermetically closing lid 18 is attached to a rack 19 and the movement of the rack 19 is generated by the gear 21 controlled by a control motor 20 to hermetically close a humidifying lid 8. This operation is performed directly after the humidifying lid 8 is separated from a recording head 1 in order to perform recording. In addition, the hermetically closing lid 8 is returned to the original position after the completion of recording and before the recording head 1 reaches a recording stopping position. By this operation, steam discharged from the humidifying lid 8 can be prevented as possible and the exchange cycle of a humidifying liquid becomes long while maintenance is simplified. In addition, the drying of a humidifying material is not generated and clogging can be certainly prevented. |
