PURPOSE:To prevent or suppress side cell reaction to decrease capacity deterioration and decrease voltage drop in an initial stage of high rate discharge by covering a part or whole surface, except for inner surface covered with a negative electrode, of a can with a passive film or insulating film. CONSTITUTION:A negative electrode 2 comprising light metal such as lithium, sodium, or aluminum is arranged in the inner surface of a can 1, and a positive electrode 3 mainly comprising porous carbon and a separator 4 are accommodated inside the negative electrode 2. Electrolyte also acting as positive active material mainly comprising oxyhalide is accommodated in the can 1. A part or whole surface of exposed surface, except for inner surface covered with the negative electrode 2, of the can 1 is covered with a passive film or insulating film 15. For example, exposed inner surface such as the upper part and bottom of the can 1 is covered with polypropylene film 15. |
