PURPOSE:To select data from a map memory and display the data on a display device, by setting a mark, which indicates the present position of a vehicle at an arbitrary position on a map, and providing a means, whch displays partial maps on the entire screen of the display device. CONSTITUTION:Maps 40, which are stored in a map memory 4, comprise divided partial maps. The present position of a vehicle 3 is indicated by a mark 5b. Electric signals corresponding to components Ha and Hb of terrestrial magnetism H are converted into digital quantities, which are in turn inputted to a microcomputer. A control circuit 6 reads map data from the map memory 4 and displays the data on a display device 5. Based on an azimuth angle theta obtained by an azimuth detector 2 and the running distance of the vehicle 3 obtained by a running distance detector 2, the present position of the vehicle 3 is computed and displayed on the map projected on the display device 5. |
