摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an alloy with high saturation magnetic flux density, high magnetic permeability and superior corrosion resistance especially in an acidic atmosphere for the core of a magnetic head by regulating the amounts of S and O remaining in an Fe alloy contg. prescribed percentages of Si, Al and Dy to prescribed values. CONSTITUTION:The amounts of S and O remaining in an Fe-Si-Al alloy consisting of, by weight, 4-12% Si, 3-8% Al, 0.01-2% Dy and the balance essentially Fe are regulated to <=3ppm S and <=10ppm O. When a rare earth element is added after reducing the S and O contents, the effect of the element on the magnectic characteristics of said alloy is made distinct, and the magnetic permeability can be improved while almost maintaining the magnetic flux density especially by adding said small amount of Dy.
