PURPOSE:To enable a cylinder to be uniformly cooled by providing a cooling jacket in a portion of a cylinder block having larger thermal load and filling said jacket with liquid state cooling medium to cool an engine with vaporizing latent heat of boiling medium. CONSTITUTION:Cooling jackets 3 surrounded by side walls 8 and cylinder walls of a cylinder block and shallow to the approximately intermediate portion of cylinder are provided at the thrust side and the opposite side thereto, and radiator fins 4 provided beneath the jackets. Also, in the forward and backward direction of the cylinder are provided cooling jackets 5 extending over the approximately whole range of the vertical direction of the cylinder. When an engine is run, refrigerant begins to be boiled from high thermal load portions to produce vaper in the order of a combustion chamber in the cylinder head and the cylinder so that the vapor is introduced into a condenser through a vapor chamber 13 and an outlet 14. |
