PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a roll for heat treatment by carbonizing ceramic particles used as a material for the roll. CONSTITUTION:A roll for heat treatment supports and transfers a material to be heat treated in a heat treatment furnace filled with a high temp. atmosphere. Ceramic particles used as a material for the roll are carbonized and mixed with artificial graphite or natural graphite, and the mixture is calcined to manufacture the sleeve of the roll made of a calcined body. The mixture may be further mixed with amorphous carbonaceous powder of carbon, coke or the like. The pores in the sleeve may be sealed with carbon, carbide, nitride or oxide to produce a more significant effect. |
