PURPOSE:To obtain a one-side galvanized steel plate having a beautiful non- plated iron surface of metallic gloss by forming a nonoxidative atmosphere on the fore side of plating on a steel strip traveling in a hermetically constructed one-side galvanizing chamber and an oxidative atmosphere on the rear side of plating thereby preventing formation of zinc dust. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip 4 annealed in a continuous annealing furnace is brought into contact with the build-up flow of a molten Zn metal 8 fluidized by the driving source of an electromagnetic pump 10. The strip 4 is passed through the inside of an atmosphere gas protective chamber formed by dividing a plating chamber 7 to nonoxidative gas and oxidative gas, by which the strip is galvanized on one side. Gaseous O2 is incorporated into gaseous N2 for regulating the plating rate to be injected 15 into the rear plating chamber, by which the pick up of zinc dust on the non-plated iron surface of the strip 4 is considerably decreased (see the figure).
