摘要 PURPOSE:To provide an alloy consisting of relatively inexpensive Ti, Zr, Mn, Fe, V and Al represented by a specified general formula and capable of occluding and releasing hydrogen at a relatively low temp. CONSTITUTION:This alloy has a composition represented by the formula (where 0.2<=x<=0.8, 1.5<=y<=2.0, 0.01<=a<=0.5, 0.05<=b<=0.3 and 0.01<=c<=0.1). The alloy is an intermetallic compound having a single phase consisting of six components, and it is easy to crush. When the alloy is hydrogenated, it is not required to activate the alloy by evacuation at a high temp. or other method. Hydrogen is easily occluded in the alloy in a vessel by introducing hydrogen into the vessel under 1-10atm. after evacuation at room temp. The alloy can occlude and release hydrogen stably and reversibly at a relatively low temp., and the dissociation equilibrium pressure of the resulting hydride can be controlled by changing the values of said x, y, a, b and c.
