PURPOSE:To increase reliability of a safety valve and decrease manufacturing cost by installing a safety valve part, which insulates a positive terminal and a negative terminal and serves as a safety valve, comprising ceramic and glass. CONSTITUTION:Stainless steel battery cases 1 and 2 are welded in their peripheries and serve as a positive terminal. A nickel current collecting rod 3 serves as a negative terminal and is insulated from the positive terminal 1 through an insulating layer 4 comprising ceramic 10 and glass and sealed in airtightness. When the positive cases 1 and 2 are bulged outward by inner pressure, glass of the insulating layer 4 is broken by bending pressure and inner pressure is released to the outside for safety. A lithium negative electrode 7 is faced to a positive current collector 5 through a glass separator 8 containing a positive active material which also serves as electrolyte, and a negative connecting piece 9 is fixed to the nickel rod 3. |
