INSTANT ERASION METHOD OF EPROM

PURPOSE:To attain the stable instant erasion without having the deterioration of reliability due to the thermal damage of a chip, by emitting the ultraviolet rays with the spark discharge of a xenon tube. CONSTITUTION:The xenon gas having the pressure value set at an optimum level is enclosed into a bulb 1 constituting a container of a spark discharge tube. A capacitor of 40muF is connected in parallel to the spark discharge tube with application of 250V voltage. Then the discharge is carried out 24 times per second to irradiate the ultraviolet rays to an EPROM chip for 4sec. Thus the memory contents can be erased instantly.
