Process for operating a refrigerating device, especially a useful space, e.g. a greenhouse used for the protection and cultivation of plants or the like, equipped with a refrigerating device, the cooling in the case of the useful space equipped with the refrigerating device being carried out essentially by the supply of a quantity of air cooled in the refrigerating device, the quantity of air fed in being cooled, on passing through the refrigerating device, at least partially to below its dew point temperature, and the precipitating condensation water being supplied for useful purposes, e.g., used for watering plants, and also a refrigerating device, e.g. for a useful space, especially for carrying out a process for a greenhouse used for the protection of plants or the like, wherein the cooling can be carried out by the supply of a quantity of air cooled in the refrigerating device, and the refrigerating device has at least one condensation surface with an operational temperature beneath the dew point temperature of the quantity of air supplied to the refrigerating device, and wherein a header is provided for the condensation water precipitated on the condensation surface and the collected condensation water can be supplied to water users such as, e.g., plant irrigation equipment. <IMAGE>
