Pressure control valves for pressure cookers, having a cooking display which acts counter to a spring, is fastened displaceably in a valve body and exposes or closes pressure-compensation openings as a function of its position relative to the valve body, are to consist of few individual parts, one spring sufficing, and, furthermore, are to be easy to assemble and disassemble in a simple manner. For this purpose, the cooking display (10) has a piston (11) which is displaceable in a longitudinal bore (9) of the valve body (2) and seals said bore. Arranged one above the other in the valve body (2) are a plurality of radially extending steam outlet openings (16, 17) which communicate with the longitudinal bore (9). On its outside, the valve body is surrounded, at least in the region of the steam outlet openings (16, 17) by a sleeve (21) which is rotatable relative to the valve body (2) and has bores (22, 23) which correspond to the steam outlet openings (16, 17) in defined positions. Furthermore, the valve body (2) is provided on its underside with a threaded part (4) onto which can be screwed an attachment nut (7) which is provided with steam inlet openings (13, 14, 15). <IMAGE>
