The device for digging wells in the soil comprises a cylindrical body (1), a striker (2) which is so arranged in the body that it may impact a nose-piece (4) thereof, and an air distribution mechanism (3). Longitudinal grooves (5) and ribs (6) are provided on the portion of an outer surface of the body (1) on the side of its nose-piece (4). The diameter of the cylindrical portion of the body (1) exceeds the diameter of the circle circumscribed by the bottoms of the grooves (5), and is smaller than the diameter of the circle which is circumscribed by the crests of the ribs (6).
