The invention relates to a switching valve, in particular for showers, having a slide, cylinder or ball closure, the intention being to avoid an overpressure in shower supply lines on switching from full opening to reduced opening. This is achieved in that closure slide, rotary cylinder or ball have a setting with full opening and a setting with substantially reduced opening, as a result of which a significant reduction in the water flow can be achieved without shutting the latter off completely, entailing the resulting disadvantages. <IMAGE>
